Inveraray has a fine selection of specialist shops and eateries in and around Main Street focussing on traditional Scottish products.

The Loch Fyne Whisky Shop is an award winning, world class vendor of whisky and whisky related products. With an excellent range of malts and blends including the exclusive Loch Fyne blend the shop operates a popular international mail order business. An interesting feature of the shop is its living cask. The barrel is continually topped up with fine whiskies creating an ever-changing character to the blend. Each successive top up is called a “Volume” and are available in 20cl sample bottles.

The Natural Elements Gift Shop is a well-established shop displaying and selling the finest examples of modern Scottish craft and design. Available are original designs in paintings, ceramics, woodwork, metalwork, stone and textiles all handpicked by owner Alison Burnett.

The Stable Gallery used to be a stable before it was converted into a successful art gallery. On display are many fine originals by well known Scottish and local artists depicting rural Scottish scenes in a variety of painting mediums.

Kate’s Originals specialise in handmade tweed kilts. Their approach to kiltmaking is very environmentally friendly and only organic and natural materials are used. Because every kilt is made from the best materials and every stitch is handsewn, they will last more than a lifetime. As they say “a kilt is not just for formal wear, it’s for anywhere”.

Inveraray Woollen Mill occupies pride of place right on the town’s Front Street. Browse through its excellent range of Scottish casual and country clothing including high quality traditional and modern knitwear. Then relax in the Anvil Coffee Shop or sit outside and enjoy the unparalleled views of Loch Fyne.

After your browse through Inverarary’s shops why not have a bite to eat. The George Hotel is famous for its cosy dining room and bar with its flagstone floor and roaring log fire. Its food matches the high quality and authenticity of this historic Scottish building. Homemade dishes such as steak pie, fresh soup, and Loch Fyne salmon are all made from the finest Scottish produce, many of which is sourced from local producers.

Or if you fancy a fast food alternative look no further than Mr Pia’s Fish and Chip Restaurant. The takeaway bar and restaurant serve generous portions of excellent fish and chips and will even do that Scottish delicacy - the deep fried Mars Bar - on request!
